I decided to start a podcast slash vlog about Science Fiction, writing it, along with talking about science, possibly doing reviews and commentary on other books, maybe even movies and tv. Just for fun, and not as a major “project”.

So, I decided to try Kindle Unlimited. Amazon pushes it pretty hard. I was skeptical, but they let you do a few things behind the scenes that you can’t do otherwise. That comes with the “risk” that all the Kindle Unlimited readers grab your book for “free”, and then you only get paid when they actually read the book, paid per page. I was worried that people would just download the book into their pile of collected books, and never read it. Well, I was wrong! People have read several thousand pages already! (That means the majority of the Kindle Unlimited folks vs regular purchasers have finished the book!)

So that’s nice.

This did mean that I had to have the book available exclusively at Amazon, so it’s not available via the Nook right now. That’s not a problem, just a change.

Not quite as focused as the Sixty Symbols videos, but he does carry on a nice discussion on how modern science should influence Science Fiction (as it does with my work).

And of course he does bring up a few key points that directly influenced The Way of the Dhin.

One of the topics critical to understanding the power of the Dhin is their ability to manipulate the four fundamental forces. That’s discussed in the book, but you may want to learn more about the four forces from our perspective and what we know about them. The story of course deviates from what we consider possible (That’s where the “fiction” comes in!) very early on, but I’ve been fascinated about what we do know.
